The Dana 44 Detroit Locker is an automatic locking differential that maximizes traction by delivering 100% of the torque to both drive wheels in a straight line, while internal gears separate during turns to allow for wheel speed differences. It is designed for uses including racing, towing, off-road, rock crawling and street/strip.
For over 70 years, the Detroit Locker has been recognized as one of the strongest differentials on the market.
Tech Note: This differential fits 3.73 and numerically lower gears or 3.92 and higher "thick" gears.
3.73 & Down
3.92 & higher can use “thick” gears
Optional Next Generation Rear 40 Spline Assembly.18 months of design, engineering and testing, resulted in the industries strongest 40 spline rear assembly. The design completed rigorous FEA testing and analysis. - Forged chromolyspindles, hubs, and axle shafts - Forged spindles have 4x more yield strengththan 35 spline spindles - Hubs with over 80,000 psi yield strength to match the spindles - Tone rings integrated into the hub - Forged 4340 chromoly 40 spline axle shafts that are 55% strongerthan 4340 35 spline axle shafts
